2021 Canada Games

Box Lacrosse Is Back In The Canada Games in 2021!  Are You Eligible?

Box lacrosse will be making its proud return to the Summer Games in 2021 for the first time since 1985, with games slated to take place at the Canada Games Park, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, August 6-21, 2021.

More than 5,000 young athletes and their coaches will gather to compete for the podium in Canada’s largest multi-sport event. On its road to glory, this shining generation of hopefuls will leave its mark on our community and on the country – transforming, inspiring, and unifying us all through the power of sport.

Lacrosse New Brunswick has already begun it’s preparations for this event, having already announced it’s coaching staff, as well as having organized a High Performance (ACE) Program for it’s eligible players.  The team will be led by the highest certified coach in Canada, Chet Koneczny, alongside assistant coaches Tim Hunt and Keegan Higham.  There will also be a youth development aspect of the ACE program running concurrently.

For further information see below, and also please attend our information session at 6pm, on November 21st, at UNBSJ (Oland Hall - Room 106).

Lacrosse New Bunswick’s ACE Training Program

ACE High Performance Program (Off-Season)

This Athlete-Centred Enrichment (ACE) Program is designed for athletes looking to take their lacrosse game to the next level.  Based on current evidence-based research, the NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) and LTAD (Long Term Athletic Development) models, the athletes we are targeting for the HP aspect of the Program are already in, or approaching the Train to Compete stage of development; this program is designed to help prepare them for provincial and national level competition.  Beginning with nutritional counselling, movement screening, fitness testing, and later gym safety, etiquette and familiarity, the off-season strength and conditioning component of this program aims to progress 14 - 18 year olds to exercise independence, and later peak performance.  The on-floor component of the program aims to develop the participants mental performance and overall cognitive understanding of the sport of lacrosse.
